Our Story - The Echo of a Dream
The dream of a global MBA began as a fragile whisper for me, a stirring of ambition that took root in late 2021. However, the path quickly felt like a lonely trek through a dense fog. I remember facing the GRE for the first time, the anxiety building with each passing section, only to see my score fall short of my expectations by 17 points. Undeterred, I poured even more hours into studying while working full-time 12-14 hours a day in a highly responsible role, facing the daunting exam again, the second attempt yielding a slightly better, but ultimately disheartening result. Those early setbacks felt like significant blows; each point shy of my target amplifying the doubts that began to creep in, making the journey feel even more arduous. I remember those 3 AM nights, hunched over my laptop, pouring my heart and soul into application essays that felt like desperate pleas cast into an indifferent world, with each "no" landing like a physical blow.
In those dark moments, a stark truth emerged. Leaning on well-meaning mentors, I realized their advice, though heartfelt, often felt like a comforting hand waving vaguely towards a distant horizon. They had not walked this specific, demanding path. They did not understand the nuances of navigating the standardized tests or crafting a compelling "Why MBA?" essay. This, I call it the Generalist’s Dilemma—a sense of being cared for, yet profoundly lacking in MBA specifics. Then came the specialists, the MBA admission consultants who seemed to hold the golden keys. Yet, their exorbitant fees, such as $7500 onward for five schools, felt like an insurmountable wall for me—a stark reminder that expert help was often a luxury. Also, I sensed a transactional coldness, a lack of emotional support during this journey. This, in my terms, was the Specialist’s Distortion. The hope of my MBA dream was now fading into permanent silence.
However, I refused to surrender. Fueled by a burning aspiration, I doubled down. Late nights turned into early mornings. Finally, in early 2023, the tide began to turn. Acceptance letters arrived, one after another, from schools I coveted. That triumph was not just a personal victory; it was a profound realization of the chasm between the inadequate general advice and the inaccessible specialized help. It was in that moment, vividly recalling the sting of each failure, that the idea for “MBA Guardian” ignited.
